Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. officially launched the new Honda Civic Type R with a new sporty exterior and mechanical upgrades to further enhance the model’s driving performance.

The Civic Type R, first introduced to the Philippine market in 2017, remains to be one of the most sought-after performance vehicles.

The refreshed exterior features a comprehensive and improved aerodynamic package. The new symmetrical design, smooth surfaces, and sleek styling blades contribute to the new Civic Type R’s cleaner styling. The front and rear bumpers and side skirts maintains a carbon fiber effect front splitter, side underspoilers, and rear diffuser with a sporty red accent line that runs around the vehicle.

At the rear, the Type R spoiler works in conjunction with vortex generators that contributes to the overall negative lift which improves road-holding abilities.

Completing the Type R’s sporty look are 20-inch Berlina Black alloy wheels.

Inside, it features a high center console complemented by the Type R spec bucket seats. While the low seating position gives the driver and passenger that sports car feel.

The Civic Type R also gets a new Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and new teardrop style gear knob. These updates aim to optimize the steering wheel grip and gear shift accuracy.

Meanwhile, the instrument panel features a 7-inch full color Thin Film Transistor (TFT) LCD Display which can show a variety of different functions [Driving mode display (+R, Sport, Comfort), LED gearshift indicator light, Turbo boost pressure gauge, Throttle/brake input display and G-Meter].

And on top of the center console of the Type R is an updated 7-inch Touch Screen Display Audio System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.

In terms of power, the new Civic Type R retains its 2.0-litre VTEC TURBO engine that produces a maximum power output of 310 PS at 6,500rpm, and peak torque of 400 Nm from 2,500rpm to 4,500rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission equipped with a rev match control system that enables the car to sustain maximum power during gearshifts.

For better handling response and ride quality, the Civic Type R gets an upgraded control software for its Adaptive Damper System for faster road condition evaluation.

The new Civic Type R is equipped with Brembo four-piston calipers paired to a new two-piece floating 350mm front brake discs and new brake pads.

The Honda SENSING suite of driver-assistive functions is also available in the new Civic Type R. Honda SENSING alerts the driver of potential hazards through a monocular camera and wave millimeter radar that monitor and assess various road conditions in front of the vehicle.

Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)

The suite of driver-assistive features includes the following: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

Along with Honda SENSING, the new Civic Type R comes with the following standard safety features: Front Driver and Passenger Airbags, Side Curtain Airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Multi-View Reverse Camera w/ Guidelines.
