Three days after resuming operations on May 4, Automobili Lamborghini marked a first in the company’s history with the introduction of the new Huracán EVO Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder via Augmented Reality on its official website.

A combination of lightweight engineering, class-leading rear-wheel-drive system, and a specially tuned Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS), the new model is set to raise the bar higher in the luxury segment competition. With the naturally aspirated V10 power plant that puts out 610hp and 560Nm of torque can accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in only 3.5 seconds and with a top speed of 324 km/h, the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder has the brand’s signature driving experience; whether if the car’s roof is up or down or may it be for daily driving or high-performance racing.

Designed to satisfy the adrenaline junkies by churning out top performance figures, the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder also puts drivers’ skills and the setup of its rear-wheel-drive powertrain as its main focus; resulting to an exhilarating driving with unfiltered physical feedback and maximum engagement.

The brand’s specially tuned P-TCS traction control system is guaranteed to deliver consistent torque and assuring traction from sharp cornering or drifting. This makes the car’s performance more efficient and capable of handling different road conditions. It has an ANIMA button on the steering wheel which controls the driving modes such as STRADA (for stability and safety in all conditions, minimizes rear-wheel slippage, manages torque delivery on low-grip surfaces), SPORT (allows for drifting fun, rear wheels can slide and skate during acceleration, limiting torque output whenever oversteer angles increase rapidly), and CORSA (optimizes the car’s traction and agility when exiting a corner at high speeds).

The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder’s lightweight chassis made from aluminum and carbon fiber is housed in an aluminum and thermoplastic resin body, resulting in a weight-to-power ratio of 2.47 kg/hp and a dry weight of 1,509 kilograms. It optimizes driver feedback with double wishbone suspension, overlapped quadrilaterals, and passive shock absorbers, as well as a front/rear weight distribution of 40/60. To ensure even more control, it is equipped with ventilated and cross-drilled steel brakes that stop 19-inch Kari rims fitted with special Pirelli P Zero tires. Carbon-ceramic brakes and 20-inch wheels are also available as another tire option.

The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder’s soft-top roof, available in a range of colors, is aligned with the car’s body lines, paint options, and two removable lateral windshields yet promise a quiet cockpit for uninterrupted conversations and entertainment. Possible even at 50 km/h, the roof stows within 17 seconds under the rear hood.

Inside the cabin, the car has an 8.4-inch HMI touchscreen placed on the center console which controls the car’s various functions, as well as comprehensive connectivity. Drivers can choose from a virtually limitless color and trim options through Lamborghini Ad Personam.

“The Huracán EVO Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder doubles the driving fun, delivering raw driving pleasure with the opportunity to celebrate life outside,” says Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali. He also added that drivers are “perfectly in touch with Lamborghini’s engineering heritage, experiencing the feedback and engagement from the setup of a rear-wheel-drive car where the electronic intrusion is minimized while enjoying the sense of freedom and spirit of life that only open-top driving provides.”
