Continuing its efforts in battling the spread of the novel coronavirus around the world, Mazda Motor Corporation has joined the IP Open Access Declaration Against Covid-19.

As an initiative that goes beyond industry boundaries, the declaration states that Mazda and all participating companies and research institutions will not exercise any intellectual property rights for a fixed period. This includes patent rights, utility model rights, design rights and/or copyrights for acts aimed at ending the spread of Covid-19. This movement allows for faster development, manufacturing, and provision of therapeutic drugs, vaccines, medical equipment, infection control products, etc. that can alleviate the current situation and eventually end the spread of the novel coronavirus globally.

Since the start of the pandemic, the company has been carrying out initiatives to support healthcare professionals and people from other industries who work tirelessly every day on the front-lines. Mazda provided masks from their reserves, as well as raincoats as personal protective equipment substitutes. They also supply face shields in collaboration with Hiroshima Prefecture and local companies.

Mazda is determined in maintaining their aid in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic by supporting schemes for healthcare professionals and activities for local communities and business partners.
