Nissan revealed the all-new Nissan Ariya electric crossover globally through a virtual launch hosted by CEO Makoto Uchida and Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta at the soon-to-open Nissan Pavilion in Yokohama. This marked a new chapter for Nissan EVs, as the brand’s first all-electric crossover SUV is an ideal partner for daily commutes and road trips alike.

“The Nissan Ariya is a truly beautiful and remarkable car,” Gupta said. “It enables you to go further, easier, and in comfort. The Ariya is designed to impress, and to express what Nissan strives for – making our customers’ lives better.”

Equipped with an interior that has a welcoming, luxurious, and lounge-like vibe, the 100% electric power train of the Ariya still packs a punch with its powerful acceleration yet a quiet operation. It features a stress-free autonomous driving, concierge-like assistance, and seamless connectivity that heightens on-road confidence and provides a welcoming environment for the both driver and passengers. Based on the Japan WLTC cycle, the EV has an estimated range of up to 610 kilometers.

Based on the similarly named concept vehicle displayed 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, the Nissan Ariya is the first production model to represent Nissan’s new brand identity and EVs will have electrification, optimized platform packaging and seamless vehicle AI technology as standard, further pushing the company into a new automotive era.

The car’s appearance bears Nissan’s new design language, Timeless Japanese Futurism, characterized by a distinctive Japanese approach conveyed in a simple yet powerfully modern way. With the Ariya’s new EV platform, it allowed the brand’s designers to create a flat floor and it its compact climate control components, giving the EV most spacious cabin in its class. It also has Zero Gravity seats, providing utmost comfort for driver and passengers.

The Ariya EV is the true realization of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, built on an all-new Alliance-developed EV platform that improves vehicles to appeal to customers and achieves zero emissions, and vehicle fatalities, the goal of a future of the company.

Aside from representing Intelligent Power, Intelligent Drive, and Intelligent Integration, the three key pillars of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, the Ariya developed a new driving experience through the combination of advanced electric-vehicle technology and seamless human-machine interface connectivity.

As an EV pioneer, Nissan upgraded the performance and zero-emission capabilities of the Ariya. The all-electric drivetrain allows drivers to choose from configurations depending on their needs, in addition to the car’s excellent power delivery, charging capabilities and range. Offered two-wheel-drive and e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive versions, the vehicle also has two different battery sizes.

With its twin electric motors and e-4ORCE all-wheel control system, the car has balanced, predictable ride, with sports car-level power and all-weather capability.

The Ariya most technologically advanced Nissan car to date, with features such as the ProPILOT 2.0 advanced driver assistance system and the ProPILOT Remote Park and e-Pedal, giving drivers fewer worries and more confidence while on the road. It also has Nissan’s Safety Shield system, including Intelligent Around View Monitor, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking and Rear Automatic Emergency Braking technology, all of which comes as standard for all variants.

In terms of connectivity and other technologies, Ariya has Amazon’s Alexa to help drivers and an all-new human-machine interface which natural speech to adjust car settings.

“The Ariya enhances driving excitement, ensures top levels of comfort and confidence and heightens the joy of connecting,” Gupta said. “It’s more than just a great EV crossover, it’s a great vehicle. It’s a true force of wonder, and it’s coming soon.”

The all-new Nissan Ariya will be available in Japan in mid-2021, with a price tag of around 5 million yen. It will arrive in Europe, North America and China by the end of 2021.
