Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) wrapped up the third round of the Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup last June 25 to 26, 2021. Over 200 participants joined the race from different age groups, both professional and non-professional.

For Round 3, racers battled virtually through the Fuji International Speedway, a track based on the real-world circuit in Shizuoka, Japan which used to be the home of the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix.

In the 17-under Junior Class, Russel Cabrera was determined to defend his title right from the starting line, while Joshua Marquez remained on his tail throughout the race. Cabrera maintained the lead after a few laps while Marquez and David Ison continued to tackle each other within corners and turns. The race ended with Cabrera showing a dominating performance with a total of 82.5 points for all races. Joshua Marquez came in second and David Ison finished in third.

In the Promotional Class, Jether Miole maintained a wide gap lead while Marcus Victa and Julius Quitlong continued to stay on his tail. The racers even got split-second exchanges in sharp turns. But in the end, Miole finished the race victorious earning a total of 90 points for all races. Marcus Victa came in second with 48 points, while Julius Quitlong came in third with 24 points. However, Owen Rada claimed the spot in the final tally with 47 points in total.

The much-awaited Sporting Class saw returning racers Terence Lallave and Estefano Rivera completely locked onto Luis Moreno as Moreno took the lead. In the first two laps, the participants fitted themselves tightly in a grid without contact even in challenging turns. Lance Padilla and Elman stole the show as they tried to pass and deny each other. Meanwhile, Moreno and Lallave kept the intensity high throughout the race. At the finish line, Luis Moreno reigned supreme with a total of 85 points for the entire race, followed by Terence Lallave with 72.5 points. Corban Guerrero placed 3rd at the podium earning a total of 29.5 points. However, Lance Padilla took the overall 3rd spot at 44 points in the final tally.

The top 6 finishers from the Promotional and Sporting classes will compete in the national round qualifiers. Big prizes are in store for the winners which include a brand-new Sony PlayStation 5 and cash prize.
